Having started work in the Postroom at Whitehead Monckton in 2003, I attended college to complete my CILEX Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries. This taught me topics such as working with legal documents and procedures that apply in a legal environment. It also taught me professional office skills, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and touch typing skills. Whilst undertaking the course, I had the opportunity to work in various teams throughout the firm to assist with my training.
I joined the Succession Team in 2005 and have worked within this area of law ever since. I have progressed from Trainee Legal Secretary to Senior Legal Secretary over my 20 plus years with the team.
In my day to day job, I assist the Maidstone fee earners in working efficiently for our clients. Whether it be typing letters and emails or chasing relevant institutions for information. I assist with all new enquires for the team providing information, leaflets or booking initial appointments. However, we do work across our offices as one large Succession team so you may speak to me when I assist with another office.
The best part of my job which I really enjoy is speaking to new and existing clients and helping them with any questions they may have. Whether this be in person at our Maidstone office or on the telephone. I pride myself in assisting with the questions as best as I possibly can.
I can assist with the initial enquiries of succession planning, Wills and inheritance tax planning, probate and administration of estates, deputyship matters and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Over the years of working for Whitehead Monckton I have maintained my St John Ambulance First Aid at Work qualification and I am currently one of the Fire Wardens within the Maidstone office.
When out of the office I have a young family and a spaniel so most of my time is spent with them. We are a boating family and we usually spend most summer weekends on the river Medway. I enjoy volunteering and am currently a trustee of a local Scout group.
