Whitehead Monckton Becomes a Certified B Corporation™

Law firm Whitehead Monckton and HR partner firm Eclipse HR are proud to announce that they have achieved B Corp certification, a globally recognised accreditation awarded to businesses verified as meeting B Lab standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

This achievement comes just months after Whitehead Monckton transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) and is another major step towards changing the way people view lawyers.

As a B Corp  in the legal sector, the firm is among only around 40 UK law firms to have achieved B Corp certification to date, making this a significant achievement.

Why Whitehead Monckton Pursued B Corp Certification

The decision to pursue B Corp status reflects a longstanding commitment to balancing business practices and a belief that law firms have a meaningful role to play in shaping a fairer, more sustainable economy.

“Our mission is to change the way our clients see lawyers: as rapid, responsive and effective partners for achieving their aims. So achieving B Corp certification is a natural extension of our values,” said Managing Director Christopher Longden. “Our clients and our team expect us to lead with integrity, transparency, and long-term thinking. This accreditation provides an independently verified framework that keeps us accountable and ensures we continue to improve year after year.”

Why B Corp Matters

The B Corp movement is one of the fastest-growing global initiatives for responsible business. By joining this community, Whitehead Monckton aligns itself with organisations that believe business can, and should, be a force for good. For their clients, the certification offers reassurance that the firm’s operations, culture, and decision making are grounded in measurable, independently assessed standards.

“B Corp is not just a badge,” added Christopher. “It’s a commitment to continuous improvement. It challenges us to consider the impact of every decision on our people, our clients, our communities, and the planet.”

A Commitment to Long‑Term Positive Impact

B Corp certification requires organisations to demonstrate positive impact across several key impact areas, including community, staff and the environment. The process involved looking at the firm’s supply chain, carbon audits and emissions reductions, as well as their commitment to client services, and support for people who work for their clients and the community.

With a 3-year certification now achieved, Whitehead Monckton and Eclipse HR will publish annual impact updates and continue to develop initiatives that support environmental sustainability, employee wellbeing, community engagement, and ethical client service.
