Whitehead Monckton is proud to play our part in building a sustainable future by actively reducing carbon emissions across our operations. With support from Martin White at Green Business Hub, our Environmental and Governance Committee conducted a full carbon audit to assess Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions – from direct energy use and purchased power to supply chain impact.
We’re committed to halving these emissions by 2030 in line with the Science Based Target Initiative and UK net zero goals. Our next carbon audit is scheduled for January 2025.
Climate change affects everyone, everywhere. As a firm rooted in the Kent community, we recognise our role in shaping a healthier, more responsible future – locally and globally. Reducing emissions helps:
We’ve identified a number of ways to help us meet our targets:
Sustainability isn’t a box-ticking exercise – it’s an ongoing responsibility. We’re continuously reviewing, refining and expanding our efforts to reduce impact, share knowledge, and inspire change.
We’ve served the communities of Kent since, and we take pride in our historic roots, continually seeking ways of giving something back to those communities that have supported us, whether by raising funds for a local charity, through pro-bono work or through our Charitable Foundation.
Each year, our staff vote to select a Charity of the Year, setting the focus for – generating creative ideas to raise both funds and visibility for the charity’s cause. Throughout the year, we organise a variety of events that bring colleagues together, spark community spirit, and make giving back fun and rewarding for everyone involved.
Since 2012, our incredible team has raised over £80,000 for nominated charities by participating in British 10K runs, London to Brighton cycle rides, triathlons, quiz nights, golf days, and the ever-popular dress-down Fridays.
Founded in 2012, the Whitehead Monckton Charitable Foundation is dedicated to supporting local charities throughout Kent and the surrounding areas. Our Trustees meet regularly to consider applications for grants – typically ranging from £1,000 to £5,000 – which are often used to fund one-off projects that make a tangible difference in the community.
The Foundation thrives thanks to the heartfelt generosity of our clients, who contribute during their lifetimes or leave legacies in their Wills. Their support helps us extend our impact and strengthen the region we proudly serve.
