Our expert solicitors offer a wide range of services specifically for businesses together with legal support for you as an individual. You can see our specialist lawyers at the office most convenient to you or we can meet at your office or home.

We are recognised within Kent as being a very approachable and professional firm with experience in many areas of law. Human first, and lawyers second

We understand that legal issues affect real lives, careers, and ambitions – and we’re here to make your journey easier, reduce the risks and minimise the stress.

Whether your legal needs are personal or professional, we’re here to listen, to explain, to advise and to act. And we always keep you informed every step of the way.

Just ask our clients, many of whom have been with us for decades, and generations. Some have even been with us for centuries – we’ve been around since 1781, and have advised Kentstone Properties Limited since it was incorporated in 1862.

It’s this dedication to people – not just cases – that sets us apart from traditional firms. Our relaxed culture, long-tenured staff, and seamless service ensure consistent support and lasting relationships.

Accessibility

All our offices are centrally located, and the Maidstone office has easily accessible client parking. Our receptions are open from 8.30am to 5.30pm and our lawyers are typically available in the offices between 9.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays (excluding Bank Holidays).  We always try to be available outside these hours where necessary, both through email and by telephone.  All the offices are accessible for disabled clients.

Languages

Some of our lawyers are able to assist you with the following languages: French; German and Hebrew.

Proud of our heritage. Focussed on the future.

Whitehead Monckton traces its roots to 1781 with the firm of Whitehead, Thomas and Urmston founded by George Burr at No. 9 King Street, Maidstone. Through mergers, expansion and innovation – including our transformation to a limited company structure in 2014 – we’ve evolved while staying true to our core values of empathy, transparency, relationships and confidence.

Major milestones include:

  • Expansion into Tenterden in 1984 led by Timothy Monckton, the sixth generation of the Monckton family.
  • New offices in Canterbury (2013), Canary Wharf (2016, via merger with Docklands Solicitors) and Ramsgate (2023)
  • Head office relocation to Eclipse Park in 2018 to improve client service.

Today, as members of LawNet, we are connected to a network of independent law firms, allowing us to offer broader insight while keeping our roots firmly in Kent.

Whitehead Monckton is proud to have served the people of Kent for over 240 years, and we look forward to continuing to do so long into the future.
